Pilates – Mat, Stott & Barre

"In 4 weeks you will notice a difference, in 8 weeks your friends will notice a difference and in 12 weeks the world will notice a difference.”

What is Pilates?

Pilates is an integrated approach to exercise that was pioneered by a man called Joseph Pilates. Born with many ailments as a child he grew determined to strengthen his body not just in the physical sense but as a whole. There are many teaching and training methods in Pilates today but ultimately Pilates aims to connect mind and body through a series of exercises that focus on:

  • Correct breathing patterns
  • Alignment of the pelvis, ribcage, shoulder girdle and head
  • Improve body awareness
  • Stability and control
  • Axial elongation of the spine.

Reasons to do Pilates

  • Improved posture
  • Prevents injuries
  • Improves self confidence
  • Changes your body shape
  • Tones your body as a whole
  • Enhances your mood
  • Lengthens and strengthens muscles
  • Protects your lower back
  • Flexible form of training
